Important Information About ThinkQuest
Thank you for your involvement with the Oracle Education Foundation and ThinkQuest.
When Oracle first released ThinkQuest in 1998, few technology solutions were available to schools. Today, numerous free and low-cost technologies are being used by educators worldwide. We are extremely pleased to see this change – it reflects great progress. Further, it has prompted Oracle and the Oracle Education Foundation (OEF) to assess how we can deepen our impact in education in the years ahead.
Shortly, you will receive an email that details how Oracle is evolving its commitment to education with new offerings that will support hundreds of thousands of students. Part of this evolution includes discontinuing ThinkQuest over the next 18 months.
ThinkQuest Transition
As OEF transitions ThinkQuest (TQ), it will:
- Complete the 2012 TQ Competition as planned.
- Support TQ Projects and the TQ Library through June, 2013.
- Honor all existing teacher training commitments.
- Refer schools, upon their request, to platforms and competitions that are similar to ThinkQuest. (If you would like to take advantage of this service, please send an email to support@thinkquest.org.)
- Enable teachers and students to use this online tool to download their ThinkQuest projects.
- Provide 24 x 7 email support for teachers and administrators.
- Uphold child safety practices and COPPA certification.
- Remain in dialog with you throughout the transition.
If you do not receive the email, please contact us.
We look forward to collaborating with you in new ways and continuing to help you prepare your students for 21st century careers.

THINKING DAY
What happen when a mighty army of 5000+ strength surrounds
another army of 1000 + strength in a
Small area of 15 sq km. One can easily predict the victory of the might. But
history has different stories to tell. A group of 350 trained boys made the
difference. The smaller army under a colonel triumphed.
It was7th may 1900. British citizens are celebrating
a hero in the colonel of the army. who on a later stage reveals the secret of his
success in a book named ‘Scouting for boys”. The book remained proof for what boys
can do if trained appropriately.
The colonel formed a team of 350 boys between the
age of 11 to 18 who helped the soldiers in locating troops of the enemy by passing messages, giving signals and more
importantly arranging the gadgets. This team has relieved the soldiers of the
common duties and enabled them to concentrate completely on fighting.
The person whom we are talking so far is lord baden
powell. After witnessing the the vast quantum of energy and skills of the boys
lord baden powell conducted a trail camp between 1st and 20th
of august 1907 with some childen of his friends. The results of the camp was
compiled into a book and released in a fort night. This was later published in
1908 . The popularity of the book among boys has motivated b-p to launch
scouting officially in the year of 1908 which grew in leaps and bounds in the
decades that followed.
Today we are celebrating his155th birth day as 86th thinking day and 13th world
thinking day.
It was in 1926 that the world scout conference has
decided to dedicate a day for guides to think about their sisters across the
world. The conference felt the b-day of b-p will be an apt occasion for that
and christened the day as thinking day. It was in 1999 it was renamed as world
thinking day to give global emphasis. Starting 2005 a theme has been selected
every year. This year thinking day’s theme is “"Environment": UN Millennium Development Goal 7:
Girls worldwide say “We can save our planet”.
So come let us pay tribute to the lord baden powell by taking pledge to save the planet by
avoiding the plastics , by using renewable sources of energy and reducing the
use of fossil fuels.
Come let us join hand in
protecting the planet.
Come let us celebrate the THINKING DAY.
